We remember the Caller and the calling

As we approach the Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and the celebration of the Resurrection we remember Jesus’ poverty, persecution, and passion. Jesus emptied Himself of His majesty and became a slave (Philippians 2:7). Though He is rich, for our sake He became poor (2 Corinthians 8:9). He was persecuted (John 5:16). He was sinless, yet bore our sin (1 Peter 2:24; 2 Corinthians 5:21). He died. Why? So we might live (1 Thessalonians 5:10).

As we remember, let us remember this also: Jesus died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. (2 Corinthians 5:15) And Jesus said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.  Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.  You are my friends if you do what I command you.” (John 15:12-14)

It has become an ACrossMission tradition to offer our friends and donors the opportunity to reach out and join with us to feed those in need at Easter. We reach out with bread and the Bread of life to feed to marginalized, vulnerable, sick, widowed and orphaned people in communities where they too often face poverty and persecution.
